Great bar with nice barkeeper who knows his job and does his own infusions.

Really relaxed cocktail bar with a very nice bartender and friendly atmosphere. The owner explained what is in the cocktails and really enjoyed his work. The bar is nicely decorated. On the bar are containers with all kinds of fruits the bartender uses for its cocktails. The bartender won a price for the best Sake coacktail.

The yuzu martini is top notch. Comfy, good music and great service.

Delicious cocktails made from local ingredients from the owner. Some of the best I’ve ever had. The sake expertise is also really appreciated. The bar looks awesome and the staff are incredibly friendly. I would be here every night if we were staying longer. What a treat! どうもありがとございまさ！

Yuichi is a legend. Outstanding cocktails that are crafted with care and panache. Excellent tunes and ambiance. A must do when in Takayama.

This place oozes charm with it's eclectic decor, the barman is seriously talented, the drinks are sensational as well!

Great chilled atmosphere, the barman is super friendly, chatty and helpful. I went to watch fireworks from the bar and he offered me an umbrella to take with me as it was raining. Needless to say, I had to come back and sample some of the amazing cocktails, which are based on the western drinks but with a Japanese twist. Mostly foreigners on late Friday evening, but a great way to meet like minded travellers. Definitely recommend visiting this place.

Clear to see that the bartender is very passionate about his work and also extremely creative in the drinks he creates on demand.

A cosy and comfortable bar run by a very attentive and diligent man who makes cocktails with absolute precision. We let him choose sake for us and he provided detailed explanations of each. We will return.

Such a cool place - fabulous cocktails - he also has Japanese whisky, sake and beer. Some quirky twists if you want - such as ginger vodka martini. Many ingredients are locally sourced. I would definitely recommend.

Amazing place ! Very original cocktail and outstanding bartender. Atmosphere is relaxing and comfortable. If you are out in cold go there. Unique place. Though no food just drinks.

Super cocktails, service and atmosphere

Yuichi is the man! He owns and operates this fantastic pub. My wife and I hung with him for a few hours in the beginning of the evening. He makes great drinks, has great stories and a terrific establishment. A must when in Takayama. Thanks Yuichi!

Went there twice during my stay in Takayama. Excellent menu of drinks whether you want beer, sake or cocktails - real, unique ones, not just highballs. Very affordably priced, excellent service, great decor and atmosphere. Highly recommend.

GO HERE! Hands down my favorite bar in Japan. The owner was fantastic and the drinks were great (and cheap!). No cover charge and an English menu. Drinks only, no food.

Yu have to come here!! Craft beer on tap (Yona Yona) was smooth,floral and refreshing. Few choices of sake, went with the barman's recommendation....... winning. Cool funky vibe with sassy soothing tunes. Loved it!!

The best pub in Town, one of the best in the world.Great HANDMADE cocktails made from local sake or local fruits and vegetables, great service and great atmosphere. If you are in a rush this is not the place for you because to make great cocktails like "Yu the Oste" do, it takes time, love, effort and great skills! Sometimes you can enjoy small snacks like peanuts or similar. This is a place where you can enjoy one of the best cocktails outside your country and relax. The host is fluent english speaker!Highliy reccomended if you are in Takayama.

One of the coziest bars I have ever visited. Very skillful barman and great drinks. Brilliant music as well. Go home Golden Gai in Tokyo and Pontocho in Kyoto..

Absolutely top-notch cocktail bar and atmosphere. Bartender made his own twist on a penicillin which was delicious. Went back the next night and he poured us a free glass of champagne - very friendly and helpful guy who does an incredible job running this place on his own!

Amazing bar with a lovely cosy atmosphere, cash only so bring cash but the cocktails are great and they were kind enough to give me a free drink while I waited for my cocktail to be made.

This place is amazing. Yu puts 1000% into his drinks and cares about the craft rather than intoxicating you. Decor is very welcoming with takyama style woodworks and the waitress is amazing and in touch with takayama and other cultures. Cannot stress this is one of the best bars i have been to.

Incredible bar and service. There’s plenty of comfortable seating and the entire bar is very spacious. Yu was great at creating cocktails and it was our favourite spot in Japan so far!

Yu is one of the nicest and best bartenders I’ve ever met. He recommended me a fantastic drink with plum, ginger, and vermouth — which my party all ordered a second round of, and gave us blankets since it was cold outside. Hoping I’ll get the chance to come back again!

First of all: Perfect!!!We've been to a few top rated bars in the world and this location is even better!I would like to give 6 stars, if i was able to.Cocktails start at ~ 700Yen (7$) and are so good. We asked for improvised cocktails, the bartender asked what direction we liked (sweet, sour,....) and just started. The drinks were on point.It was so complex, tasteful, and good. I want this location in my hometown!Normally you pay 15$ and more for such a cocktail. I tried to describe a bit the experience, but in the end, i dont have the right words for it. I am speechless!If you are around the place, go there and order a cocktail!

It is by chance to meet this place during a walk back to hotel. Very Nice place and recommended to stop by after your dinner, you will miss the night in Takayama if dont go here. It would be a great if it is winter with snow and have drink here.

Such a beautiful bar with very kind and friendly bar staff. The cocktails were delicious and there was a great sake selection, as well as whiskies and good beer and IPA. Great atmosphere and so cosy on a very cold night. Wish I had such a bar near where I live but it was lovely to visit while in Takayama.

Such a great funky bar, delicious modern cocktails prepared with so much care by the lovely and friendly owner (who was also handing out samples of different liquors and brought us sake on the house, just because!) Great atmosphere, music and menu. Highly recommend visiting this venue!

We came here becos of the raving google reviews, but the hype is real. The cocktails were absolutely amazing, very well balanced, and waaaaay better priced than the stuff we get back home in Australia. Very friendly people and great vibe. Definitely worth checking out

Very cool and cameral pub, the very friendly owner makes his own syrups etc for mixing cocktails and drinks, he uses local Japanese fruits etc. My drink was delicious. The drinks are based on Western recipes but with a Japanese twist to them. A sake selection for shots. The decor is cozy and eclectic, with Japanese and Western elements.
